Austin Funds Square Study

The Austin City Council last week agreed to research funding for a downtown open spaces plan while studying the condition of existing parks and historical sites.

Downtown has three of the four squares that anchored its original grid — Wooldridge, Brush, and Republic. The study will target Brush Square as the center of Austin’s tourist industry as the Cap Metro Commuter Rail line prepares to open a station at the nearby Convention Center.

Participants in the study will include the Downtown Austin Alliance, the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Downtown Austin Neighborhood Association, and the Heritage Society of Austin.
