Notes & Comments: The Aviara Golf Club opened in July 1991. The completed Park Hyatt Resort Aviara (formerly Four Seasons Resort Aviara) opened in the summer of 1997. Located just a mile from the Carlsbad coast at the top of a valley, this San Diego golf resort overlooks the Batiquitos Lagoon and provides guests with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. The Aviara Golf Club located just below the resort provides golfers some ocean views as well as some nice afternoon sea breezes that adds extra challenge to an already difficult layout. One of the best golf courses in Southern California and the United States, Aviara features a luxurious 32,000 sq. ft. club house; full service Pro Shop; upscale men's and women's locker facilities; daily lockers; sauna and showers; and complimentary shoe care. The Argyle Steakhouse seats 70 in the dining room, 50 on the terrace overlooking the 18th green and faiway and 30 in the lounge. Aviara has excellent practice facilities and private golf lessons are available by appointment with their PGA professionals or at the Kip Puterbaugh's Aviara Golf Academy - a top 25 ranked school in America. Also new in 2006 was the addition of the Taylormade Performance Lab, a high tech fitting system open to the public.
