Track: Breakout Sessions: Higher Education
Monday, September 20, 2010
This session will focus on:
- Assessing short-term debt and liquidity risks against long term gains in balance sheet strength
- The non-profit perspective compared against expectations of lenders, investors, underwriters, rating agencies
- The increased importance of disclosure on liquidity, investments, debt covenants and swaps will be discussed
Increasing demand for higher education in the US has fueled dramatic growth in the sector in recent decades. Will the Great Recession disrupt that trend -- cutting enrollment and institutions' ability to raise tuition? Learn the sector's outlook for new capital investments and credit quality.
The session will address financing solutions for higher education facilities that involve use and or management by public or private sector partners, including research facilities and hotel/conference centers. The speakers will review federal rules for tax-exempt financing (private use regulations) and provide examples of innovative financing structures that respond to the rules. Case studies will be included.
