Washington needs to pay as much attention in the coming months to rebuilding the nation's highways, rail lines, airports and ports as tackling remaining federal debt issues,” former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell said upon 2011 release of a report by the bipartisan coalition, Building America's Future Educational Fund. The report states the U.S. needs to increase overall spending on infrastructure by $200 billion a year for the next decade to stay economically competitive with other nations and fix systems that are falling apart. Infrastructure doesn’t only apply to our modes of transportation but should also include our water and wastewater systems, our dams, our electric grid and our broadband system. This administration made a big push for going green. But at what cost? Hear from this panel of infrastructure advocates what they believe the answers are.
